Dr Ruth Reynolds was invited to present a masterclass on ‘Intercultural Competence for 21st Century Learners’ at the ACSA symposium STEM, STEAM or HASS in Sydney on 15th October, 2016.

The Symposium was a dissemination event for three Office of Learning and Teaching-funded projects (Western Sydney, Macquarie, and James Cook) focused on student mobility, global citizenship and internationalisation. The themes were focused on latest developments in the field in the design, implementation and embedding of Outbound Mobility Programs (OMPs) or study abroad into the tertiary curriculum.

Dr Kate Ferguson-Patrick was recently invited to present work about cooperative learning to the Education and Learning Research group at The University of Dalarna in Sweden. The presentation titled How to incorporate Cooperative Learning (CL) in Teacher Education to promote the use of CL in schools attracted about 20 participants.  Cooperative learning sits within the five learning emphases of Global Education, particularly within the Identity and Cultural Diversity, Social Justice and Human Rights and Peace Building and Conflict Resolution emphases.

2015

Invited visit to Indonesia

Associate Professor Ruth Reynolds was formally invited to present at the 7th National Indonesian Teachers’ Annual meeting in November 2015 to discuss a framework and action plan to build awareness of global education and its implementation in Indonesian schools.  She was also involved in the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the University of Newcastle and Universitas Terbuka with the gov. of DKI Jakarta Provence; the gov. of West Java Provence and the gov. of Banten Provence, Indonesia.
